Adding a Scholar
There are two ways to add a researcher, from Scholar Sync → Add New.
Search and import automatically
- Type the researcher's first and last name and click Search & Add Author.
- A table of matching candidates appears, each showing their name, number of works, h-index, and affiliations, so you can identify the right person.
- Click Add next to the correct match. Their profile, publications, and co-authors are imported automatically.
Add manually
If a researcher can't be found this way — or you'd rather not rely on automatic matching — click Can't find the author? Add Manually. This opens a plain form:
- Full Name (required)
- Position / Title
- Affiliations
- Thumbnail Image
- Interests
- Citations Total, h-index, i10-index
- Author Page URL
Click Add New Author to save. If Full Name is left empty, or a field is too long to save, you'll see an error message above the form and your entered values are kept so you don't have to retype them.
A manually-added researcher has no linked Scholar ID, so they can't be synced automatically — their publications and stats are exactly what you enter, and stay that way until you edit them. See Keeping Data in Sync.
