Scholar Sync is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards. This statement describes the accessibility status of scholar-sync.org, the measures we take, known limitations, and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier.
1. Conformance Status
- Standard — we aim to conform this website to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which also aligns with the Israeli Accessibility Standard (IS 5568).
- Current status — partially conformant: most of the website meets the standard, but some areas listed under "Known Limitations" below may not yet fully conform.
- Compatibility — the website is designed to work with major modern browsers and assistive technologies such as screen readers.
2. Accessibility Features on This Site
- Keyboard navigation — key elements of the website can be operated with a standard keyboard (using the Tab and Enter keys).
- Visual clarity — text elements are designed with high contrast ratios against their backgrounds to ensure readability.
- Responsive design — the layout adapts to various screen sizes and zoom levels without loss of functionality.
- Alternative text — images and graphic elements include text descriptions (alt attributes) where applicable to support screen readers.
- Consistent structure — pages use semantic headings and landmarks to support navigation with assistive technology.
3. Accessibility Toolbar
An accessibility adjustment toolbar is available on every page of this website (button at the bottom-right corner of the screen). It offers, among other options:
- Preset accessibility profiles (e.g. vision impaired, seizure safe, ADHD friendly, screen-reader oriented)
- Font size, spacing, contrast, and color adjustments
- Highlighting of links and titles, pausing of animations
- Interface language selection
The toolbar is provided by a third-party service and operates alongside — not instead of — the built-in accessibility of the site itself.
4. Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, it is not always possible to achieve full accessibility in every area of the website, particularly regarding:
- Dynamic components — some interactive elements (such as carousels and toggles) are being progressively improved for assistive-technology support.
- Third-party integrations — embedded or linked third-party content may not meet the same standard (see below).
We are continually seeking solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility.
5. Third-Party Content and Services
Some parts of the Scholar Sync experience are operated by third parties whose accessibility we do not control, including the WordPress.org plugin page, the Freemius checkout used for premium purchases, and our GitHub repositories. If you encounter a barrier in any of these, contact us and we will help you complete the task through an alternative channel.
